A timely reminder about Digital Reputation

Happy New Year to all iCyberSafe readers.

Hopefully you had a great Christmas and a fun New Year? With plenty of BBQs and parties to go to there is always someone with a digital camera ready to snap you at your best…or maybe your worst!

Today The Age published a timely reminder about protecting your digital reputation “Beware of getting off your Facebook” and some of the measures that recruiters are taking when searching for new staff.

It used to be seen as vain, but now looking yourself up on the Internet is essential to protecting your digital reputation. And, of course, you can do this for your children too.

  1. Use Google to search for your name. This article explains how to do this effectively.
  2. Use a people search engine that gives results targeted to social media and location. www.pipl.com is particularly effective.

iCyberSafe.com have a number of articles on Digital Reputation.

Have a cyber safe 2011!
